Do you dread taking your kids to the dentist? At Leavitt Family Dentistry, we understand how nerve-wracking a dental visit can be for children. Rest assured, our friendly and fun office is here to help your children enjoy their routine dental visits. Here are 6 tips to make dental visits fun for your kids.
.Play “Dentist” at home One of the best ways to make it easier for kids to enjoy the dentist is to prepare them at home. Play “dentist” by taking turns pretending you are the dentist or your kids are the dentist. Brushing their teeth is a fun and simple way to prepare them for some of the things they will experience when they visit our Logan dental office.
.Set a good example If you really want to help your kids, be a good example. Fear can be taught by parents who are afraid of visiting the dentist themselves. You need to be able to talk to them about being calm during the visit, and showing your children that you do not panic when you visit the dentist either.
.Read dental storybooks to kids You can also help your child to get over the fear of the dentist by making him or her go through picture books about dentists and dental care. There are dental picture books with colorful images that make it easier for children to understand what to expect when visiting the dentist.
.Bring a stuffed animal or blanket Sometimes holding a small stuffed animal or their favorite blanket can help children to relax. If you have a child that is concerned, bring along their favorite toy or blanket to keep them calm.
.Wear a costume Do you have a child that loves superheros or princesses? Let them wear their favorite costume to our office. Not only will our staff love it, your child can gain some extra confidence dressing up like their favorite hero or princess.
.Schedule a family visit Go together as a family so your children feel more comfortable while going to the dentist and facing the “ordeal” of having teeth examined and cleaned. Call our dental office in Pocatello to schedule a cleaning and examination for your entire family. We work hard to provide our patients with a comfortable, friendly dental atmosphere designed to treat all ages of patients.
